Happy Yorkshire Day

Happy Yorkshire Day from Revival Vintage Founder Helene & the rest of the team!

Every year on 1st August we celebrate Yorkshire Day, a chance to recognise the county that has shaped not only our business, but much of my own life.

Helene's Yorkshire Upbringing

My Yorkshire story has taken me across the county. I was born in South Yorkshire, grew up in North Yorkshire, and in 2003 Mark and I founded Revival Vintage in West Yorkshire, where we're still proudly based today. Looking back, it feels rather fitting that every corner of Yorkshire has played a part in the journey. I met Mark when we first moved to a rural West Yorkshire village where our children attended the same school.

Yorkshire is often associated with honesty, resilience and a strong work ethic. There's an old Yorkshire saying, "Where there's muck, there's brass", reminding us that success comes from hard work. After more than twenty years of building Revival, that sentiment certainly rings true.

Today our home is in Huddersfield, where our showroom occupies a beautiful former drapery and general store dating back to 1878. When we first discovered the building, we knew it was something special. Rather than modernising everything, we chose to preserve as many of its original features as possible, allowing the character of this Victorian building to remain at the heart of Revival.

What could be better than reproduction clothing inspired by the 1940s and 1950s being designed inside a building with so much history of its own.

Every garment begins its journey in Yorkshire. Our collections are designed here and our full team are based here including marketing, customer service and dispatch where orders are carefully packed and dispatched from our Huddersfield premises before making its way to customers across the UK, the USA and around the world.

While our clothing travels thousands of miles, our Yorkshire roots have never changed.

Beaumont Park Viaduct

Yorkshire also continues to inspire us creatively. From the rugged beauty of the moors and the rolling countryside to the architecture of its historic towns and villages, there's a timeless quality to Yorkshire that sits perfectly alongside our love of classic design and enduring style. We are never short of stunning backdrops for our photo shoots.  Beautiful Beaumont Park is right on our doorstep.

As another Yorkshire saying goes, "There's nowt so queer as folk." Over the years we've had the pleasure of meeting customers from every corner of the world, yet one thing never changes: people appreciate authenticity, craftsmanship and genuine passion. Those values have always been at the core of Revival.

Or, as we'd simply say around here...

"Now then... Happy Yorkshire Day!"

It was interesting to read Helen’s article about Yorkshire day and see the shop and building , which looks absolutely gorgeous ,and I’m so pleased that they have kept so many beautiful features from the original building. I only discovered revival vintage earlier this year and I have been so impressed that they really do manage to make their clothing styles look exactly like the originals and also that their prices are much less expensive than most repro shops, but the thing that has impressed me most is that Helen and her team come over as being very caring people who have a genuine passion for vintage and love what they do rather than just being in it for the money, I recently contacted Helen to ask her if she was going to get some more of the fabulous 40s style coats back in stock, in different colours and designs later this year ,and she told me that she would be, and also told me exactly what the colours were ,and what the patterns are, and even from this email I could sense her excitement about them , Helen comes across as being such a lovely lady. A few months ago I bought myself an original 1940s summer suit, I had been looking for one for ages and snapped this one up when I found it, but only a few days later revival vintage had them on their site for half the price that mine cost and they really are an exact copy. I must also add the Helen looked stunning when she was wearing one.
