What We Would Wear To Goodwood Revival

For those of you not in the 'Goodwood loop', Goodwood Revival is a festival celebrating classic cars and motorcycles from the years 1948-1966, the dates from which the original circuit was active. These decades are also where the fashion inspiration originates. Guests are invited to wear vintage fashion from the 1940s to the 1960s. Over three days, every September, petrol heads and vintage fashion devotees gather together to celebrate all things retro. It is one of the largest, most popular nostalgic events in any enthusiast's calendar.

Our team here at Revival were challenged to put together an outfit that they deemed 'Goodwood-worthy'. Here are our picks!

Alice

Alice's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Alice’s favourite colour combination is pink and black. She chooses a true vintage dress in chic black, with delicate pink floral embroidery. The dress is fit and flare, with a collar, which makes for a very flattering and sophisticated look for Goodwood. She teamed this with a vintage reproduction hat, matching the dresses floral detail with a large felt flower. Continuing the pink and black theme she adds a patent candy pink frame bag, with a sweet bow, and a pair of cat eye sunglasses in the same shade of pink. The finished look is minimal with maximum impact, and Alice’s feminine style shows through in every detail of her outfit.

Mark

Mark's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Deciding on a formal look, Mark opts for ultimate sophistication with a vintage Hugo Boss jacket. The jacket has a very subtle check pattern of mustard yellow and brown. He uses the jacket as the centrepiece of his outfit and chooses a pair of our Edwin trousers in a complementary navy. When mixing and matching suit bottoms and tops, adding a complementary colour (a colour that sits opposite another on the colour wheel) can add striking contrast to your look. Mark’s use of navy draws out the mustard yellow in the jacket, creating a pop of colour. He keeps the shirt plain and formal with a blue spearpoint collar shirt. To accessorise, he picks a straw fedora with a red and navy band. It also has the added detail of a plume, small details like this can really add style to your outfit! Matching the red and blues, he chooses leather loop braces and a vintage silk tie, adding arm braces for that extra touch of authenticity.

Caroline

Caroline's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Caroline loves the authenticity in a true vintage garment, and opts for a button through shift dress in vibrant pink. The dress has a fabric belt to cinch in the waist, pockets and charming fleur-de-lis embroidery. She styles this with her own black t-bar wedges and one of our vintage woven handbags, staying optimistic with thoughts of a sunny day at Goodwood! She finishes her look with a large pink hair flower and baby pink cat eye sunglasses, for that extra retro feel.

Ben

Ben's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Ben takes the practical approach to dressing and bears in mind the unpredictable September weather when picking his outfit. He cleverly teams our Edwin chinos and Gallivant boating jacket with one of our short sleeve leisure shirts, not only making his outfit comfortable for the long day but also suitable for hot and cold weather. He even takes into account the versatility of his outfit, when it comes to those finishing touches. His chosen colours allow for a wide variety of choice in accessories, and our Edwin chinos can be worn with braces or a belt. He adds a straw fedora hat with a flash of red and blue, and he’s good to go.

Eden

Eden's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Settling on a formal yet summery look, Eden chooses our Verity suit in Sage Green. The skirt suit is a CC41 replica with figure flattering peplum detail and wide collar. She loves the Dior ‘New Look’ silhouette and ornate rouleau loop buttons! A hair flower, instead of a hat, adds some femininity to the suit and also a complementary pink to the green fabric. She opts for tan colour accessories over black, as this makes the outfit look brighter. Her choice of bag is a true vintage, lizard skin frame bag. Her minimal look is both comfortable and fashionable.

Helene

Helene's Goodwood Revival Outfit

Helene takes full advantage of the opportunity to style a 1960s inspired outfit, as the decades worn at Goodwood Revival stretch from 1940s-1960s, a refreshing change from other nostalgic events. She picks out a true vintage, double breasted shift dress with a bright floral pattern. She contemplates the colours used in the dress when choosing her accessories, to complement the dress she could pick out one or more colours from its vibrant pattern. She decides on highlighting the turquoise detail by matching one of her own cardigans with a true vintage bag and bright cat eye sunglasses. To complete the look she picks a unique 1960s woven beret. Staying true to her roots, she puts together an entirely true vintage ensemble!
