Up To Date With Revival In June 2018
Well Dressed Ladies
We have some super new stock this month. A varied mix of new retro dresses and accessories, plus some great 1960s dresses ideal for anyone looking ahead to Goodwood Revival. The first of these sold today. the good ones don't stay around for long.
True Vintage Sixties Dresses
Vintage Style Hats
I have added a few new vintage hats but also this new style of pure wool retro hat ideal for a 1940s or 60s look. Love the mustard shade. As with our other vintage inspired hats they are adjustable inside with drawstring ribbons and have a water resistant finish.
1940s Inspired Dresses
A lot of the retro styles available lean towards the fifties look. It's not always easy to find authentic forties. This new batch from Pretty Retro suit most figure types and are definitely more appropriate for a 40s silhouette than the 1950s.
Bags of Accessories
There are a few pairs of gloves new on the site including some bright green ones and the ever popular 1940s crochet mesh ones. Also some vintage head squares that can be worn in many ways and make a super gift for a vintage loving friend. Best of all here are some new true vintage frame bags. A classic Kelly style that spans the decades.
Ornate Vintage Belts
Not often I get these but this month I have some beauties to share with you. Ideal to transform a plain day dress to an evening look. Mostly from the eighties they are also a popular choice to synch in the waist of 1950s dresses.
The Mens Struggle
It can be a struggle finding true vintage items such as waistcoats and tank tops. We have been fortunate this month to buy a few original vests. Although since I took these photographs I think at least three have already gone. Our vintage inspired moleskin ones come a close second to the real deal because they are hand tailored in pure wool just down the road from us in Huddersfield at a local factory. We can get them made up in pretty much any style or colour.
Revival Limited Edition Tank Top
Finally taken delivery of our new 1940s Vintage Style Fairisle Tank Tops.
They are in a palette of cream, brown and blue-grey so that they coordinate with pretty much any shade of trouser.
The yarn content is 50% Merino wool 50% low pill acrylic. and they are a slimmer fit than our last ones.
Available in four sizes. We have only had 200 produced in total and will not repeat the same colours to keep you looking individual.
Other new vintage stock for guys include, ties, cravats, suits and wool trousers.
Also any day now we are expecting our new shirt styles which will include a lovely stripe spearpoint collar one. To give you a clue we are using one of these fabric swatches.....
Challenge Revival
Using these great products and more, sometimes we are asked to help re-create a character from the past.
Recently we were contacted from a guy called Martin in Sweden who had a challenge of his own:
"I’m restoring a Ferguson tractor from 1954. When it’s done I’m going to participate in a show where I want to have clothes that match the tractor in age, maybe from the 40s. On movies on YouTube one can see Mr. Ferguson having quite nice clothes for driving a tractor, something like that"
This image was taken from the link he sent us:
Here is Peter wearing the outfit we suggested. We think his tractor looks great and so does he.
Since I last wrote we had first use of our new Gazebo at Brighouse 40s weekend. Think we are getting the hang of it despite the useless instructions. It takes up so much room in the car though that we have now added a top box to allow us to pack more in. Our next event is The Armed Forces day in Scarborough on Saturday 30th June. We enjoyed this event last year, right on the promenade. Lets hope the weather is kind again. Love to see you all in your splendid outfits. Remind me I need to take more pictures!!
As always, have a great month.
