Revival Vintage Celebrity Style File
We all need a little inspiration from time to time so here are some of our tips and tricks to style it up like your most favourite vintage icons (with a little help from the Revival Vintage wardrobe of course!).
Dita Von Teese
When you think of 40s and 50s vintage style, you can’t help but think a little bit of this woman! Dita Von Teese is known for her signature retro look and that’s not just her clothes. Think pale skin, black curls and red lips – elegance comes to mind! The burlesque star stuns in her figure flattering dresses, often encompassing bold colours or clashing patterns.
Here at Revival Vintage, our choice is our 40s style check suit. Isn’t this the most flattering outfit? The synched waist, the peplum from the waist and who could not notice the gorgeous puffed sleeves on this? Pairing beautifully with block colour accessories, we’ve added classic red to channel all things Dita! Our red patent bag offers a sleek finish to the outfit with a red retro rose belt adding a pop of colour to the waist if you fancy changing belts! Oh, and don’t forget that red lip!
Alexa Chung
Everyone’s favourite style crush (I know she’s mine!), Alexa Chung is famed for her signature ‘cool-girl’ aesthetic. Striking the perfect balance between new trends and vintage classics, her street style is one to take inspiration from if you’re looking for that English preppy look. Her clever mix of a feminine frill blouse with a masculine fit jacket is one that looks effortlessly put together.
We’ve teamed up our rose bow shell blouse with the belted Betty Barclay skirt for ultimate geek chic and a solid base to throw on some perfect vintage accessories. Along with our double breasted tweet jacket, this mix will throw you right into the centre of quintessential British vintage with a modern feel! I also had to include our vintage crocodile bag and purse, because I’m just a little bit in love with it!
Kate Moss
There’s no doubt Kate Moss is one of the biggest names in fashion and, luckily for us, she’s a big fan of vintage! Keeping her prints simple and classic, she accentuates her outfit with a pop of bold accessories. Who doesn’t love a bit of animal print? Style it with a neutral palette of black and grey, the key to Kate’s style, making her fashion style 20 years ago still look current today.
Our pick is the gorgeous leopard fun fur coat to add a bit of texture to your outfit and to be your ultimate bold piece to spice up your style! Teamed with black 40s style trousers, you have the classic combination of mixing clothes that, on paper, don’t really go together, but don’t fear, this Kate Moss tradition breaks the usual fashion rules and sets off trends all through the industry. Have a little faith, you can rock it as well as she does!
Zoeey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel’s cute and quirky style embraces everything we more girly girls love about vintage! Whether it is polka dots, dainty stripes or block colours, her whimsical way of styling often includes a hint of mod vibes from the 60s, with block mini skirts and poplin dresses. We like this classic blue 1950s day dress for an easy option in the summer (which we can’t wait for, trust me!) or if you’re more into piecing a few items up together, this red pleated 60s mini skirt and pale blue 60s blouse is a match made in Deschanel heaven!
Vintage styling gets plenty of press coverage such as this article in The Mirror with more ideas from the celebs who have nailed it. The good thing about vintage clothing and accessories is there are so many variations you can find a look that's just right for you.
