Revival In The Spotlight

Over the years we have been thrilled to spot our authentic vintage clothing on popular TV shows & films. From Elstree studio's Strictly Come Dancing, dramas such as All Creatures Great & Small, through to Hollywood blockbuster movies like Oppenheimer. We have compiled a collection of some of the times our products have been featured on screen, putting Revival in the spotlight.

A Haunting In Venice

Kenneth Branagh starred as Hercule Poirot in the brilliant 'A Haunting In Venice'. In post-World War II Venice, Poirot, now retired and living in his own exile, reluctantly attends a seance. But when one of the guests is murdered, it is up to the former detective to once again uncover the killer. An assortment of our vintage style shirts, trousers and accessories were featured in the film.

All Creatures Great & Small

'All Creatures Great & Small' is a television series based upon a series of books about a Yorkshire veterinarian written by Alf Wight under the pen name of James Herriot. Beginning in 2020 on Channel 5, this show is a new adaptation of Wight's books, following the previous BBC series of 90 episodes that ran from 1978 to 1990. The show revolves around a trio of veterinary surgeons working in the Yorkshire Dales beginning in 1937. They also happen to be the most stylish veterinary surgeons in Yorkshire as the main cast can be seen wearing some of our classic spearpoint collar shirts.

Annie Live!

'Annie Live!' is a musical television special that aired on NBC. It was a performance of the 1977 musical 'Annie'. Set in 1933, 'Annie' takes place in New York City during the Great Depression. The young orphan Annie is selected to live with billionaire Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks to improve his public image until he eventually adopts her. Many people in the main cast wore pieces from Revival including Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks & Alan Toy as Franklin D. Roosevelt. They both looked incredibly dapper in our spearpoint collar shirts.

A Suitable Boy

The novel 'A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth was adapted into a six-part TV series by the BBC. Set in the backdrop of post-independent India, 'A Suitable Boy' follows four linked families in North India, where the story revolves around Mrs. Rupa Mehra who is in search of a suitable husband for her youngest daughter Lata. The character Haresh Khanna, played by Namit Das, is known for being a bit of a flashy dresser so it makes sense that we spotted him wearing one of our spearpoint collar shirts.

Back In Time For The Corner Shop

Part of the 'Back In Time For...' series, 'Back In Time For The Corner Shop' followed the Ardern family from Sheffield as they embarked on an extraordinary time-travelling adventure, going back in time to run that great British institution, the corner shop. The show fast forwarded them through 100 years of shopkeeping to discover how what they sell, how they sell it and who they sell it to reflects the changing world around them. One of the episodes focused on corner shops during the 1940s & the male members of the family wore spearpoint collar shirts from Revival as part of their forties style looks.

Bodies

Bodies is a British science fiction mystery thriller television miniseries released on Netflix in 2023. Based on the DC graphic novel written by Si Spencer, the show starts with the appearance of a dead body in Longharvest Lane in the Whitechapel area of London. This event happens in the same location in four years - 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053 - and leads to four investigations by Metropolitan Police detectives that eventually become interlinked, with far-reaching consequences. Our clothing was heavily featured during the parts set in the forties.

Bonnie & Clyde

Cult classic Bonnie & Clyde became London's most wanted musical once again when it transferred to the Garrick Theatre in 2023. Inspired by the infamous outlaws, this electrifying show was an engrossing tale of crime and passion starring Frances Mayli McCann as Bonnie and Jordan Luke Gage as Clyde. Many of the cast were kitted out in clothing from Revival including our spearpoint collar shirts, vintage style trousers and timeless waistcoats!

Car S.O.S.

Tim Shaw from 'Car S.O.S.' wore this camel coloured 1980s vintage coat from Revival to shoot some promotional material for the show. The pair dressed up as characters inspired by Del Boy & Boycie from 'Only Fools And Horses' for an advert on National Geographic UK.

Dancing On Ice

In Season 13 of the hit ITV ice skating show, Amy Tinkler & Joe Johnson skated to 'Bang Bang' by will.i.am whilst dressed as Bonnie & Clyde for Love Week. The couple were sadly eliminated at the end of this episode but at least Joe looked fabulous in our sand track stripe spearpoint collar shirt & leather loop trouser braces.

Sonny Jay & Angela Egan actually went on to win Season 13. For one of their performances in the finale they skated to a George Formby medley, complete with a ukulele. Sonny wore our blue London stripe spearpoint tab collar shirt along with a grey & blue swing tie from Revival for his fun Showcase skate.

Kimberly Wyatt & Mark Hanretty competed on Season 14 of 'Dancing On Ice'. It was fantastic to see Mark wearing our blue bar stripe Beaumont shirt for their performance of 'Don't Rain On My Parade' from 'Funny Girl' during Musicals Week. He even commented on our Instagram page saying "Ah thanks for making me feel on point! Fab shirt!".

Interior Design Masters

Hosted by Alan Carr, 'Interior Design Masters' is a reality competition television series airing on BBC One. Peter Anderson, a hairdresser from Newcastle upon Tyne, appeared as a contestant on Season Three. Unfortunately he was eliminated in the second episode but we spotted him wearing a pair of our crosshatch grey notch back trousers so at least he left in style!

Maestro

'Maestro' is the new Netflix film directed by & starring Bradley Cooper as the esteemed Broadway composer Leonard Bernstein. We're very proud to say that we supplied several of our spearpoint collar shirts for this production. After Cooper's brilliant directorial debut 'A Star Is Born', we can't wait to watch this movie!

Midas Man

The tragic story of Brian Epstein is told in brilliant fashion in the film Midas Man. Starring Jacob Fortune-Lloyd as the visionary who changed music history, the movie tracks how Epstein rose to prominence by managing a series of popular artists including The Beatles, Cilla Black and Gerry And The Pacemakers before his untimely death in 1967 at the age of 32. Several of our spearpoint collar shirts were featured in the film, including on the poster, which is a true honour for us! Midas Man is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video UK.

Nandor Fodor & The Talking Mongoose

Simon Pegg's new movie 'Nandor Fodor & The Talking Mongoose' is a dark comedy based on the real-life story of Hungarian-American parapsychologist, Nandor Fodor. In 1935 he began his investigation of a strange occurrence on the Isle of Man. An average British family, the Irvings, claimed to have been contacted by a mysterious entity at their farm. A talking mongoose named Gef. The film also stars Minnie Driver as Anne, his assistant who journeys with him into uncharted territory & the legendary Christopher Lloyd. As the film is set in the 1930s & filmed locally in Yorkshire, we are proud to announce that we supplied the production team with our spearpoint collar shirts, Beaumont shirts, collar bars, swing ties & retro glasses.

Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s epic 2023 movie ‘Oppenheimer’, follows the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II. Starring the incredible Cillian Murphy as the titular character, we're honoured that a selection of our spearpoint collar shirts and knitted tank tops were featured in this cinematic masterpiece.

Penny Dreadful: City Of Angels

A sequel to the original 'Penny Dreadful' series, 'City Of Angels' is set during the Golden Age of Hollywood. It takes place in 1938 Los Angeles where Detective Tiago Vega and his partner, veteran Detective Lewis Michener, are tasked with a gruesome murder case. They soon become embroiled in Los Angeles's history as well as its present, while racial tensions, the looming threat of war and Nazi conspiracies threaten to derail them at every turn. Many of the police detectives in the show wore our spearpoint collar shirts including the two leads played by Daniel Zovatto & Nathan Lane.

Riverdale

Based on characters from the original Archie Comics, ‘Riverdale’ is a supernatural horror crime drama television series that airs on Netflix UK. In the seventh and final season, the gang is sent back to 1955 where they are all teenagers in high school again. We were delighted to see plenty of 1950s vintage clothing from Revival in this season. Some stand outs include Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones, wearing a pair of our leather loop trouser braces in the premiere episode and KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, wearing our red check flannel leisure shirt in the Archie The Musical episode.

SAS: Rogue Heroes

'SAS: Rogue Heroes' is a six part series that depicts the adrenaline-fuelled origins of the fearless Special Air Service unit during World War II. From the creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, the military drama has been hugely successful & we are very proud to have had our clothes featured in the show. Although the main cast are mostly seen in uniform, the production team sourced much of their civilian clothing from Revival including the spearpoints worn by Alfie Allen & Dominic West. Many of our shirts, suits, ties & hats can be seen throughout the show.

Strictly Come Dancing

The Strictly pro dancers performed a special Remembrance Day group routine in tribute to the women who have served in the RAF. Some vintage dresses from Revival were worn by the dancers in this performance on the popular BBC TV show.

We’re very lucky that our clothes are now regularly featured on the show. In series 21, Layton & Nikita's danced to 'Puttin' On The Ritz' with Nikita wearing our bar stripe Beaumont club collar shirt. Angela & Kai danced to 'You Make Me Feel So Young' with Kai wearing one of our white spearpoint collar shirts.

The most recent series has included some of our men’s vintage style knitwear as seen on Vito Coppola and Neil Jones. Vito wore one of our Fair Isle tank tops and Neil wore our Rufus knitted waistcoat in Oatmeal Beige. Many of our trousers and shirts can also be seen during the pro dances.

The First Lady

'The First Lady' is an American anthology drama television series airing on Showtime. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Viola Davis & Gillian Anderson, the show portrays the life and times of three First Ladies of the United States: Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford, and Michelle Obama. In the flashback scenes of Betty Ford's life, Jake Picking plays a young Gerald Ford. As the couple met in the late 1940s he can be seen wearing several spearpoint collar shirts from Revival.

The Larkins

Adapted from the classic novel ‘The Darling Buds Of May’ by H.E. Bates, ‘The Larkins’ is an ITV comedy drama series starring Bradley Walsh. Set in the late 1950s, ‘The Larkins’ follows the adventures of a working class family led by the golden-hearted wheeler dealer Pop Larkin and his wife Ma, together with their six children in the idyllic Kent countryside. In Season Two, many of the cast members including Tony Gardner, Liam Middleton, Lydia Page & Seeta Indrani can be seen wearing pieces from Revival. The wardrobe department used some reproduction pieces like our vintage style shirts and Fair Isle tank tops but they also featured some deadstock suits and true vintage dresses for that extra touch of authenticity.

The Peripheral

The Peripheral is a Sci-Fi TV series starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Louis Herthum, who plays Corbell Pickett. Louis can be seen wearing various pieces from Revival during the first season. The Peripheral is available to watch on Amazon Prime.

This Town

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight returned with a new BBC drama titled This Town. The gritty series throws viewers straight into the Midlands ska and two-tone music scene during the 1980s, set against a backdrop of huge social and political unrest. The show follows a young poet named Dante, played by the brilliant newcomer Levi Brown, who forms a band that soon finds itself at the centre of a growing yet volatile music industry. Dante’s iconic look pays tribute to the original Rude Boys from Jamaica which is why he wears this double-breasted pinstripe 1940s suit. No forties style ensemble would be complete without a spearpoint collar so we were honoured when our white spearpoint tab collar shirt was chosen to be part of his outfit!

Trouble In Butetown

Trouble In Butetown is a play by the award-winning playwright Diana Nneka Atuona. Set in Butetown, Cardiff during the Second World War, the play follows the story of Gwyneth Mbanefo who runs an illegal boarding house. When Nate, an African-American GI, escapes his barracks and discovers this new world without segregation, can he find safe harbour with Gwyneth in Tiger Bay? Several pieces from Revival were featured in the play. It was wonderful to see the brilliant Sarah Parish wearing our Lumber Jill dress on the poster!

Welcome To Dangerville

Pickleville Playhouse is a unique family theatre based in Utah, USA. Their summer 2024 show was called 'Welcome To Dangerville' and one of the main characters was dressed exclusively in clothing from Revival Vintage! His two main outfits featured our Gallivant beige wool suit with a Byram round collar shirt, and our Melvin Fair Isle tank top in Paridae Blue with the Gallivant trousers and a blue herringbone newsboy cap. We're thrilled that our pieces were used in such a fantastic production!
