What Makes Scottish Knitwear Special?

Scottish knitwear stands out for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship. Made from premium pure wool, these garments are known for their softness, warmth, and breathability. The wool used comes from sheep raised in the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, where the climate and terrain create the perfect conditions for producing high-quality wool.

Traditional knitwear manufacture

One of the key factors that sets our knitwear apart is the traditional techniques still used in production. We were delighted to be invited to the Eribé factory last year where we observed first hand the manufacture of our knitted garments. Skilled artisans employ time-honoured methods, such as circular yoke knitting and hand-finishing, to create each piece with meticulous attention to detail. This dedication to craftsmanship ensures that every garment is of the highest standard, making our women and men's premium knitwear a true work of art.

Why Choose Premium Pure Wool?

This wonderous natural fibre offers numerous benefits that make it an ideal choice for clothing:

  • Exceptional Insulation: Wool has excellent insulating properties, keeping you warm and cozy even in the coldest weather.
  • Breathable: Unlike synthetic fibers, wool can absorb moisture without feeling damp, keeping you dry and comfortable.
  • Odour-Resistant: Wool naturally repels odours, allowing you to stay fresh throughout the day.
  • Durability: Thanks to its natural elasticity, wool is highly resistant to wear and tear, ensuring that your mid-century style knitwear will last for years to come.
  • Sustainability: Wool is an entirely renewable material as sheep produce a new fleece every year. At the end of it's lifespan your old knits quickly biodegrade in soil replenishing it with nutrients not toxins.Tom wears a fair isle knitted vest

How to Care for Your Premium Knitwear

To maintain the beauty and longevity of your pure wool Scottish knitwear, it's important to look after it. Here are a few tips:

  1. When you are removing your knitted garments, it is best to be as gentle as possible. Take your arms out of the sleeves first then gently pull jumpers over your head. Pulling at the neck to take it off will stress the neckline and damage the seams.

  2. Hand wash your garments using a mild liquid or sheet detergent such as Revival Laundry Day sheets specifically designed with vintage, delicates and pure wool garments in mind. Hand Wash Revival Premium Knitwear

  3. Wash inside out so that any pilling caused by washing will be on the inside.
  4. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, as this can cause stretching or damage.
  5. Lay flat on a towel, roll to remove excess water. Reshape and dry flat on a second towel to maintain its original shape.Air Dy Knitwear Flat
  6. Store your garments folded, rather than hanging, to prevent stretching.
  7. There will be some natural pilling as the fibres ball but these can easily be removed with a special comb and unlike cheap Acrylics it will lessen over time.

By following these simple care instructions, you can ensure that your high end forties style knitwear remains in pristine condition and continues to bring you joy for years to come.
