What To Wear To Twinwood Festival

Twinwood Festival

What Is Twinwood Festival?

What are your plans for the Summer Bank Holiday? If you don’t have any, that may be about to change. Twinwood Festival is labelled as the ultimate vintage festival for music and dance and is back this year to celebrate its 21st birthday. The festival runs from the 25th until the 28th of August and is the perfect way to spend your Summer Bank Holiday. Twinwood attracts thousands of visitors each year, making it one of the largest vintage events in Europe.

Twinwood encompasses all things vintage. From the range of musical genres to retro dance lessons, there is something for everyone. The festival is located in Bedfordshire but is spread out across a range of venues. The main venue is the renowned Twinwood Arena where you are launched back to the 1920s and will go on a musical journey through to the early 1960s.

What's On?

Over the course of the weekend, there are over 90 musicians ranging in genres from Swing to Jazz and through the decades from the early 1920s to the late 1960s. Alongside this, there is the option to attend free dance classes in Retro, Swing and Rock and Roll. If history is more your thing, there are six namely museum exhibitions that can be attended during your time at the festival with the Glenn Miller Museum taking you back in time to the origins of the Twinwood Festival or the Twinwood Aviation Museum where you can be transported back to the 1940s to learn how a typical family would live. There are also over 100 trade stalls to explore ranging from vintage fashion to homeware which are located across the festival site in designated market areas. Once you’ve worked up an appetite from browsing the stalls, there are a range of onsite caterers and bars including the famous Colonial Club Restaurant. A dedicated vegan and vegetarian outlet is also available in the Woodland Walk named The Happy Cow.

The Mr & Miss Vintage Competition

In 2011, the Mr and Miss Vintage competition was incorporated into the festival. You can enter the Mr and Miss Vintage competition via email before attending the event. The judging then begins on social media. Once judging has closed, the final 10 women and 5 men are announced as the finalists. The finalists then present themselves in front of a panel of industry experts where they will announce the winner on Sunday 27th August.

What To Wear To Twinwood Festival

To embrace the vintage theme that is the backbone of the Twinwood Festival, the majority of attendees will adorn themselves in their most vintage-looking garments and head straight to the Twinwood Arena. If you are interested in the Twinwood Festival but are worried you have nothing to wear, you’ve come to the right place.

Listed below are multiple ways both men and women can confidently style themselves to attend the Twinwood Festival. There are also some hand-selected pieces for if you’re daring enough to enter the Mr and Miss Vintage competition.

Womens Vintage Clothing

There was a clear pattern of women wearing vintage dresses when attending the event and so we have selected three of the most beautiful dresses for you to consider when wondering what to wear. These dresses include:

Socialite Replica 1940s Green Floral Tribute Dress at £62.99

This floral vintage-inspired dress is taken from an original 11011 superior rationed double elevens dress. This dress is perfect for the Twinwood festival due to its 1940s features. As with all Socialite clothing, small numbers are produced to keep exclusivity high. This shape is also available in two other floral prints. We recommend you size up if you have a large bust or broader shoulders.

Green Tribute Dress

Socialite Ribbon Red Palais Dress at £58.99

This pillar box red dress, named after the Hammersmith Palais, is a great option for any woman hoping to attend the festival whilst standing out from the crowd. As with all of our Socialite pieces, the Palais is copied from an authentic vintage garment. The flutter sleeves will ensure that you can move freely in the summer heat without restriction and with a flattering fit and a soft fabric, you can dance the night away at the Twinwood Festival with confidence and comfort.
