VE Celebrations Schedule - 8th May 2025

The 8th May 2025 marks 80 years since Germany surrendered to allies. With the 75th anniversary celebrations of VE Day marred by the COVID pandemic, this year is set to be an all day event of festivities and commemorations. 

We’ve scoured the official VE 80 website and summed up the day's events for you in order, so you can pick and choose what to watch or to take part in!

Together We Stand: Flag Raising & VE DAY 80 Proclamation. The day will begin at 9am with proclamations from town criers

12:00PM
High Above, Loud & Proud: Bagpipers Tribute from all Four Peaks!  At noon, a tune specially composed for this event called ‘Celebratum’, will be played by 4
prominent pipers from the 4 peaks, Ben Nevis, Mount Snowdon, Slieve Donard and Scaffel Pike.

Together We Chime—Let the Nation’s Bells Ring Loud! Cathedral bells across the nation will ring out at 6:30pm.

21:30PM
Lighting the Beacons with Flames of Peace: A Global Tribute! Beacons are due to be lit at 9:30pm across the nation.

Party like its 1945!

If you dont want to attend an organised event ,why not host your own celebration. We are encouraged to celebrate nationally with garden and street parties, taking inspiration
directly from the original VE day celebrations of Brits.
