The History of Black Friday and Cyber Monday
If you research the history of Black Friday, you will get two different answers. Whilst many of the articles I have read completely gloss over Black Friday's dark origin, I am here to explain. Black Friday was named in 1869 when two investors aimed to rig the gold market which ultimately crashed the stock market, the US economy did not financially recover for years. The more hectic shopping day that we have all come to love was introduced almost a decade later. Black Friday as we know it started in Philadelphia in the 1950s when stores promoted an Army vs. Navy football game by having sales in shops the day before the match. This caused complete disruption to the town, which was flooded with excited shoppers and tourists, all hoping to save as much money as they could. Fast forward to 2022 and Black Friday has been labelled as the biggest shopping day of the year.
Following on from Black Friday is its online counterpart: Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday is a much newer term that was penned in 2005 as researchers found that the Monday after thanksgiving was one of the busiest days for online retailers. The online retailers also felt they were missing out on the revenue stream that brick-and-mortar stores came to enjoy. Cyber Monday has slowly become a global event much like Black Friday in which online companies' have their sales. In recent years, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become synonymous with each other with many retailers that have both physical and online stores spread their sales across the entire weekend.

How our Black Friday Will Work

Our Black Friday sale will go live at 8 am GMT on Friday the 25th of November and will be live until 11:59 pm GMT on Monday the 28th of November - meaning that you have a whole weekend to shop your favourite products at a huge discount. Items with a percentage reduction will be stated on the website before checkout and all additional deals will be applied at checkout.
If you are worried about shopping for Christmas this early, we have extended our exchanges policy to take the stress out of returns and exchanges. If you ordered after 15th November, you have until 31st January 2023 to exchange or return your items.
