Event Description: Join us for our exciting Living History Weekend! This is a family event with plenty to see and do. Under 16’s are free!
Come and join us for our Multi-Period Living History Weekend! This is a family event with plenty to see and do across the weekend. Over 600 re-enactors will be on site throughout the weekend displaying authentic period uniforms, original equipment and weapons from a wide range of historical eras.
For our 2024 event we are once again expanding our multi-period aspect even further with a plan to recruit even more historical eras and impressions to provide you with an unmissable historical experience.
This is the perfect opportunity to experience hands-on history, while getting up close to and speaking to our experts. Be sure not to miss the chance to walk alongside Ancient Greeks, witness the power of Roman artillery and hear the clash of Viking swords. There’s plenty to see and do as part of an action-packed weekend that we have lined up with some exciting additions to the event this year.
As well as the chance to talk to our re-enactors, there will also be much more each day, including:
- Firing displays and arena demonstrations
- Military Vehicles
- Trade stalls
- Refreshments
- Beer tent
- Live music
- & much more!
Our event will be held at Bodrhyddan Hall, Dyserth, North Wales on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April 2024 from 10am until 4pm each day.

This one is missing from your list too. Which is a pity, as it is wholly under cover, and a lovely winter event :

My name is Nichola and I work at RHS Garden Rosemoor in Great Torrington.
I’ve recently come across your website and wanted to let you know about an event we have coming up here in the summer.
At the end of July we will be holding a Vintage Weekend in the garden, which will include a Classic Car show, 1940’s singers and entertainment, a vintage emporium and WW2 re-enactors, and we’re currently looking for WW2 displays and re-enactors, and I thought that this might be something some of your group might be interested in.
www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/rosemoor/viewevent?EFID=377&ESRC=CMS
The dates are the 29th & 30th of July and the event normally attracts in the region of 2000 people each day.
I’d be really grateful if you could add us to your events listing and I really hope some of your group will be able to join us :)
With kind regards,
Nichola

“Pickering cancelled”
I go to Pickering for the war weekend, and to use the magnificent railway and ambience , but I feel this year will be my last. It has had a steady decline for the last 8 years. I agree that the conflict in Ukraine is a terrible situation but that should not stop us from remembering our history. I have attended many other war weekends this year and have given to charities at these events, that have set up a charitable fund to help with Ukraines troubles.
Pickering used to be the pinnacle of celebrating our history, and each year there is less and less, and we were met with such negative connotations from the railway staff.
This is such a shame and I do hope you can still make up your much needed upkeep from other themed weekends.
This is so disappointing.
1 The Pickering show ground
2 No dancing on platforms
3 The Germans at “Le Visham” station
Are a few of the things that have gone not to be replaced.

Can you email me details of events in Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire that are still going ahead because many 1940s events, seem to have been cancelled due to the war in Ukraine.

Thanks, particulaly events which included music and dancing.
