Forties Vintage Suit Dress with Lace Applique
This forties black crepe dress is a two-in-one! The jacket is attached to the body of the shift dress underneath at the shoulders, giving an effortless layered effect.
This dress has one feature pearlised button, and another inside the jacket to hold it closed, alongside two press studs. The middle press stud no longer holds together when pressed, but this isn't noticeable when everything else is fastened and wouldn't affect the wear of the garment.
A lovely lace applique decorates the front of the jacket.
The dress is fastened with an invisible zipper that starts in the front right side of the bodice underneath the jacket and is hidden in one of the front seams of the skirt, above the pleat.
It's truly a unique piece that we don't see often. and has a wealth of wonderful vintage 40s features that make it great for many formal occasions.
